Hochsteinhütte on top of the clounds

The Hochsteinhütte (2023m) is the perfect pit stop for hikers, mountain bikers or skiers. The hut is a destination for young and old with the most beautiful view over Lienz and the Lienz Dolomites. The hut is open and operating during the summer and in the winter form beginning of Mai until October and also from Christmas until March.

access:
accessibility via the toll road (5 km) from Bamberg, about 10 minutes walking time from the parking lot

entrances:
An alternative to the toll road are r the Lienzer Bergbahnen. Use the double chairlift leads to the Sternalm (1505m), which is located on the western edge of the city. Walking time, from there about 1 – 1 ½ hours

For those who prefer to dispense with all the opportunities for advancement, can select the „Russenweg“. The starting point is the castle Bruck. Walking time approx. 3½ – 4 hours.

Through the connecting to the ski resort, the Hochsteinhütte is an ideal ski destination with climbing the slopes directly from the suburbs of Lienz or on the well-trodden, leading in the dense forest Russenweg.
